Joomla! is a free open source Content Management System (CMS) that you can use to build websites.

Joomla makes it easy for non technical users to create very powerful feature rich sites all by using a web browser.

The true power of Joomla is that the functionality is easy extended by add-ons and extensions like:

image and multimedia galleries
Forums and chat software
Calendars
Blogging software
Directory services
Email newsletters
Subscription services

Hosting Joomla

Joomla Requires that your host supports:

Apache server 1.13.19 or later
PHP 4.2.x or later
MySQL 3.23.x or later

Therefore if your host supports the above you should be able to install Joomla. If you already have a host then this is what you will probably have to do.

However if you haven't yet decided on a host then you will be better choosing one that has so called one click Install capability (like Blue Host ). Although not normally one click they only require that you answer a few basic questions and the install is done for you.

Joomla tends to be the choice of profession website builders who build Joomla sites for clients. It isn't normally used by non professional site builder due to its complexity. WordPress Is the better choice
